I thought I would use this first blog post to explain how I ended up on this path of becoming a travel advisor and the Disney bug that bit me hard. My husband’s parents live in Florida. So visiting and holidays were happening especially with grandkids. While in Florida one spring break, we decided to drive to Orlando on our way home, stay two nights, and go to Magic Kingdom with the girls for the first time. Since this was our first time going, I was looking up articles on “one day visits”, “one day itineraries”, “first time at Disney”, and so forth. Needless to say, Pandora’s box was opened. I quickly learned this was no ordinary theme park where you picked a day, bought the tickets, and just showed up. And to be completely honest, the anxiety and fear that came over me was crazy. How on Earth does just any regular person decide to go to Disney and get the most out of it? It felt like I needed to have a degree in this place to be able to understand it. So, I went down the rabbit hole and researched, read, and researched some more. The Genie+( Now Lightening Lane Multi Pass) system was new, there were still some COVID restrictions (aka no hugs…so sad). I learned about dining, rope drop, parking, and the list goes on and on. It was A LOT.
Admittedly, I thrive on wanting to know all the ins and outs before going somewhere. I have always researched towns/cities before we took a trip. I have always wanted to know the must-dos, must-sees, and must-trys wherever we went. Making plans and itineraries for family trips comes naturally, so taking the step into the travel world made sense from that point. But why the love to now Disney travel? Where did that come from? It happened the moment we walked down Main Street and the girls saw the castle for the first time. It happened during our first Calvacade and they got to wave and see all the Disney characters. It happened on the rides when their faces lit up with excitement and wonder. It happened in the Beast’s castle at our very first character meal when they got to eat and see characters walk around. I could go on and on. That was it. I was hooked. All I wanted to do was bottle up these moments and try to experience the magic as much as possible.
I never understood before having kids why people went to Disney so often. Like wasn’t one time enough? Now, I get it. The magic is real. I would go just to watch their faces a thousand times. Disney is also always changing, adding, and improving. So every visit is different. And as a travel advisor it is actually fun to have to stay up to speed with all the changes. Not everyone likes that sort of thing and that’s okay. After our first trip, I continued to keep up with Disney park news and changes. About a year of doing this, I thought I would love to be able to help families have worry-free trips and help them experience the real magic of this place. And thanks to an application and an amazing travel agency that took a chance with me I get to do it.
